Welcome to 1st Liverton Scouts

Welcome to 1st Liverton Scout Group

A very warm welcome to the official website of 1st Liverton Scout Group. Our Group consists of a Beaver Colony, a Cub Pack and a Scout Troop. We then feed into the District Dartmoor Beast Explorer Unit.

Currently we meet on Wednesday evenings at Blackpool School at the following times;

  • Beavers 5.30pm to 6.30pm
  • Cubs 5.30pm to 7pm
  • Scouts 7pm to 9pm

All our sections are very full and their is a long waiting list to join the Beavers – if you want to join the Group you should submit an application form soon after your child is 4 years old otherwise there will be a risk that they will not be able to get a place.

We are always short of adult volunteers in all the sections and in the Executive team – if you want to know more about helping the Group then please send a message via the Contact Us page

2016 Update

All sections of the Group have been very active over the last 6 months:

Beavers – Have been out on Dartmoor with the local Park Ranger, in Yarner Woods and building dens, and a canoeing session on Decoy Lake. Changes in the Leadership team means that Caroline is now running the section, with support from Jo, Emma & Laura

Cubs – Went on a very successful activity camp at Barton Hall in May, had a street party for the Queen’s 90th Birthday and joined the Beavers canoeing at Decoy.

Scouts – Had a winter Camp for the older Scouts in February (in very wet weather!), learnt about Scouting in Sierre Leone, plenty of cooking and campfires, March March (overnight hike and camp on Dartmoor), canoeing at Ugbrooke Lake and raft building. In addition at the annual Hurdlestone Challenge they had the best ever results recorded with teams in 2nd, 3rd and 6th out of 74 teams. A very successful survival camp was held in July with all of the Scouts building their shelters from natural materials and sleeping in them overnight.

Explorers – Many outdoor activities including Clip’n’Climb, iBounce, shooting and camp cooking. The Dartmoor Beast Explorer Unit has now joined forces with Bovey Gateway Explorers and is now being run as a District Unit. We wish them well!
